Zan Prevee - Revealing Senses

Zan Prevee is nothing if not prolific, started experimenting in music technology and on the production of electronic music, his own unique style began to be recognized on radio sets over the world. "Revealing Senses" sees his splintered, shattered sonic palette continue to evolve away from shiny and abstract orbital toward more humid climes. The results are less dense and easier to love than arguably any of his output thus far. John Ov3rblast version immediately paints a sombre picture with a roughshod riff, rainy day melancholia and stretched out, long suffering space void wail all tugging on each and every heartstring from start to finish. Orelse Parlour Wall Mix feels less sorry for itself. The characteristic watery drips remain,...

Kaan Koray & Eray - Rise Of Darkness

"Rise Of Darkness" somewhere deep down below, rousing synths rise and rise, a man splutters out the odd mangled word and before you know it you'respinning round and round in some beguiling progressive house fusion. The duo Kaan Koray & Eraytryed a tiny bits of sound looped until their bled edges resemble something new entirely, more often than not, pathos is involved, was a meaning to recognize and better than the way they started to capture their own style. Stanisha remix is pretty much a massive curveball, with icy chord stabs and celestial xylophone sounds backing a chopped and mashed "...that's my home." It's oddly hymnal and churchy thanks to a vast and chilly echo. Franzis-D steps up first and marries insomniac-style steel drums,...

Ruca Apple - Live Out A Fantasy

"Live Out A Fantasy" is the second release on Ruca's new imprint, offer no compromise to the uninitiated, but the record should be warmly received by fans eager to hear some gritty new stuff from the her vibes. Ruca Apple continues to inspire people as a producer/dj with what many define as a “bold and delicate” sound that is always delivered with lovely looks and a charming killer smile. Turn it up and you'll hear how every third kick is accented, and while other percussive elements play out in common time, the emphasis is firmly on the polyrhythmic hypnosis created between those drums and a nervous rash of offbeat bleeps. Ruca Apple handles the sounds on the flip, and he opts for a heavily swung 4/4 rhythm that sounds just a bit...

Boral Kibil - Paradox EP

"Paradox" apparently, is about Turkish producer explorer Boral Kibil who probably didn't foresee his life being told to a soundtrack of wobbling dubstep basslines, pulses of intergalactic melody and Boards of Turkey-style analogue synths. The EP it's also unusually abrasive, dominated by a buzzing throb. Clattering cymbals closely tail each surge of this gargantuan saw-like synth, which Boral Kibil barely bothers to whittle down with filters. Loquai remix plays out exactly as the previous description implies. Bell-like bass sets up the carefree mood, chiming along with a lying-in-a-gently-rocking-rowboat kind of cadence. For most of the time, this actually functions both as bassline and as melody. In the mid-section, however, Franzis-D...

Marcu Vershi - Tough EP

Despite his youth, Marcu Vershi is clearly well-versed in the history of progressive house sounds. It courses rich through the veins of his work. Here he gets nice and loose, with plenty of lively percussive action embedded amongst wavy, slo-mo house beats that lope like lazy teenagers on a humid summer's day. The original track "Tough" is vividly coloured, with plenty of darting glissando melodies.. Franzis-D remix is marbled with vinyl hiss and crackle, its congas sound distant and thin synths speak of the future while a jazzy keyboard loop keeps things firmly rooted in the past. It feels cosy and familiar, surreptitiously growing into a tastefully triumphant swagger. Ugly drums strips things back to cute little jazzy stabs, flailing...
